What are your hours? We are open Monday-Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; on Fridays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

What is your dog?s name? Some people call him Sam. Others call him Sammy. He?s a 3 1/2-year-old yellow lab. Some people bring him dog treats. He really seems to like those!

Do you take credit cards? Yes, we accept Visa and Master Card.

Rentals

Do you rent sleeping bags and tents? Yes, we have a limited supply of camping gear for rent. We also rent bikes, snowshoes and kayaks. Prices and other rental information are available on our Rentals page.

Do you have a liability form that is required for the trip? Yes. Participants under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign for them.

Do I need a reservation and deposit? We strongly recommend customers reserve equipment in advance to ensure it doesn?t get sold out. We operate on the honor system and normally do not require deposits.

What is your cancellation policy? Cancellations due to bad weather or other predicaments are bound to happen from time to time ? we just ask that you be considerate. Please give us a call as far in advance as possible so we have the chance to re-rent your equipment.

Do you offer shuttles? We are happy to provide shuttle service year-round for groups that need to be dropped off or picked up with their equipment. You don?t have to rent equipment from us to request a shuttle. We have a bike/kayak(canoe) trailer and a shuttle van that accommodates 14 people and gear. Shuttle prices vary according to distance traveled and amount of preparations involved. Call us at 570-748-1818 for a free quote.

Can you help us with trip planning? Trip planning is a serious endeavor. It takes a lot of time and thought. We try to be as helpful as we can to people who call us, but obviously we cannot spend hours assisting groups that are not using our services. We offer guided trips and shuttles to numerous areas and are also open to guiding you into an area of your choosing. To learn more, visit our Trips page.

Do you offer group discounts? Groups of five or more get a 10 percent discount on rentals.

What is the age limit for your kayak rentals? We try to limit it to the age of 14. We do have situations where a 12 year old is capable of the task at hand and we allow the parents to make the final decision.

What are the rules/laws on lifejackets? Children 12 and under and non-swimmers of any age must wear a lifejacket at all times, no exceptions. People 13 and older at least have to have a lifejacket with them in their boat, and it cannot be lashed to anything.

Do you have kid size life jackets? Yes.

Guided trips

What is the age limit on your guided trips? It depends on the trip. If it is a short easy hike 10 year olds are allowed to go. On kayak trips 14 is the minimum. Each trip is different so we encourage you to call ahead of time to discuss whether the trip is appropriate for your youth.

What should I pack for my trip? Excellent question! We?ve got a list of items you might need for your trip here.

Do I need a reservation? Space on guided trips is usually limited to about a dozen people or fewer so we strongly encourage customers to sign up in advance. It is also important to sign up ahead of time so you are notified if there are any logistical changes to the trip.

What is your cancellation policy? We want people on our trips to want to be on our trips. So if something comes up ? a physical ailment, a scheduling conflict ? you feel you need to take care of, that?s what we want you to do. That said, we need to make a living and REALLY appreciate a heads-up if you are not going to show up, as far in advance as possible. This allows us to re-sell your seat, reconfigure packing arrangements, etc.

Are there times when you cancel trips? Yes, on rare occasions trips are cancelled or rescheduled due to inclement weather or other issues. We promise to give customers as much notice as possible when cancellations occur.

 

Who will be my guide? Rock, River & Trail Outfitters owner Rick Henrich guides most of the trips offered through his business. Rick is certified in CPR and water rescue and has been taking groups into wild places safely for 6 years. Rick fell in love with the outdoors as a kid in the Boy Scouts but didn't start his outfitting business until later in life, . Rick decided to follow his passion. Since opening his store in 2004, he has helped unlock the Pennsylvania Wilds region for hundreds of residents and visitors. He regularly partners with state park and forest managers to offer outdoor programming to the public and has earned a Tourism Award from the Clinton County Economic Partnership for his work promoting the area's natural assets. Rick encourages all of his customers to be good stewards of the natural areas they visit.
